1964 Buick Skylark 2 door coupe

Chelsea has named him Charlie

History

Originally shipped into Australia in 1964 modified to right hand drive by Fisher Body Works, Customer wanted to tow a large boat. Originally it was a 3.8l V6 (commodore motor was based of it), unfortunately the car struggled to tow the big boat and a 300cid V8 engine was installed. The car was then on sold in 1972 to my late uncle. My grandfather purchased it from Charles (uncle) in 1973, he continued to drive this car all the way around Australia towing a caravan. I purchased the car in 1995 from my grandfather and drove it for a 5 years, the motor started to get really tired and needed a rebuild. I parked it up for future restoration. Stored in a shipping container for 3 years till i could get a shed resulted in the the container leaking and the car sweating making an easy restoration harder.

The doner car was purchased from a family on the Sunshine Coast and they were kind enough to supply its history.
It was sold by motor Pty Ltd In Hobart. It’s last rego sticker was 1983. 1998 I bought the Buick off the head mechanic.I’m the third owner The head mechanic had stripped it down had the paint and chrome done and a top end reco. I finished putting it together and drove it from Taz to Qld on a permit. Had the transmission rebuilt and put rego on it in 2012. Used as a cruiser then the last few years as my daily drive.
